As I near my return to the Bay Area, I thought it would be nice to go back to my photo archives and retreat the last assignment I did while in the area with The Morgan Hill Times, before I left to take on the contract photo job with voiceofsandiego.org for the summer.
Some of these pictures may be familiar to some of you, since I posted a PDF file of these front page pics a while back.
I decided to go back to all my outtakes and review the pictures not used in the paper. A quick edit of the entire shoot for the assignment revealed a nice quiet story of a small city enjoying a good old time.
I’m on HootSuite now. Interesting little social network organizer…going to take me a few days to figure out. This blog post was posted automatically via HootSuite services. Integrated Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and this blog. It will make my life so much easier to update.
Obesity photo essay for Shift Magazine's Summer Issue. In this photo: Recess at Willow Glen Elementary.
I have finally completed my photo essay for Shift Magazine’s Summer Issue on child obesity affecting Silicon Valley schools. The assignment was a look into what schools in the area are doing to combat child obesity in their lunch time and excercise regimens. My objective was to see if the results are actually working or not in pictures.
I constantly visited many elementary schools to get a glimpse of how excercise, food, and education on nutrition where being implemented in schools. The results seemed mixed to me.
Shift will be publishing an eight page spread of my photos and possibly a cover photo of the work I have done with reporter Stephanie Bass sometime this August.
Once I get a PDF file of the magazine, I will post it as soon as I can. As well as the complete spread with additional images that may not be in the issue.
